Jerome is the proud owner of #1001, likely the first Black Widow bass to come out of Japan.

I bought this bass unseen in 1978 from a friend-of-a-friend, for $100.  The story was that the original owner had written to the Acoustic company and requested the first one.

I was a bit disappointed when I got my hands on it because of the damage from belt buckles.

But I used it from time to time in 1978-1980 in some of the finest beer joints accessible by snowmobile north of the Twin Cities.

Since then, I've rewound the pickup and repaired the wiring.  It is a very good instrument.
