From Joe: “I just picked up a ’73 or ’74 Mosrite-built Acoustic Black Widow off
of someone on The Gear Page. It’s a really cool guitar and it sounds
great. I’ve been looking at these guitars for some time but, as you
know, there are VERY illusive. I ran across your Web site and it was
helpful in my research.

The BW I have is unusual in that it has what appear like original
Maxon humbuckers (which are of Japanese manufacture and look a lot
like the Super 70s pickups in the old Ibanez guitars). I unscrewed
the pickups from the guitar and the pickup routes are original! There
are no extra holes whatsoever for any other type of pickup. This is
very strange because all the other Mosrite-built guitars have the
slim double-coil pickups which most definitely have a smaller pickup
route. I took some pics just before putting on a new set of strings
last night.”
